«Norges aller siste Rockband?»
MoE
MoE is a Norwegian rock band trapped inside two experimental musicians.
A janus-faced duo that is constantly drawn in both a melodic and abstract direction, and is very hard to categorize.
For almost 20 years, MoE has pushed the boundaries of music to various audiences, touring extensively both mainstream and under-ground scenes, often seen in Mexico, Japan or around Europe. At Rock venues, jazz festivals, punk clubs, art festivals, you name it.
MoE invites to an ever-changing universe of the unexpected through rock, noise, performance and spoken word. And through a passionate performance, which has been compared to both shamanistic rituals and witchcraft. The dark and heavy guitar landscape, combined with the dynamic and dualistic vocals, can be experienced as a mixture of Swans and Diamanda Galás.
MoE has a big CV with collaborations and have walked along the edge of free jazz with saxophonist Mette Rasmussen with the Japanese legends Keiji Haino and Ikuro Takahashi they have looked inside territories they hardly thought existed, with Lasse Marhaug they have sculpted monumental arctic noise, with Painjerk they have built bridges between electronic noise and rock music. The duo has also explored the power trio situation deeply, with a multitude of drummers from all over the world. But the duo format has been the core ever since the dawn of the band in 2008, and when they first tuned their compass to the sound of the likes of Suicide and DNA.
